Yes it is about quality in wado ryu Gordon and only a few instructors have the ability to teach children in San no Ya so we don't act as a playground to build the numbers. Mark who teaches in Brisbane sends his own son to a Shitoryu dojo.

Re: Wado in Brisbane ?
I just had an enquiry about training from someone who lives round the corner from the dojo. I told him to try a couple of other clubs near by, and come back later to discuss if still interested.

She was seeing this Roberto last night so if she tells me what happened I will let you know.
Trev.
PS I share your opinion of GKR they are very big in the area I operate in and they tell all sorts of horror storys about me on the doorstep
Hi Trevor,
I've just heard back from Brisbane and the instructor there vaguely remembers someone from GKR asking about training for his daughter a few months ago but he considered his dojo was not suitable for ex GKR students because they are a small group of experienced wado ryu folk who are mostly dan grades. I hope she finds Mr Chirrizi more amenable to GKR.

Re: Wado in Brisbane ?
Hi again
I have not heard from the lady since we last spoke When I do i will let you know what she has decided out of courtesy for your help and advice.
The meeting your associate mentions was not the one as she is a grown lady in her late 30s or even 40ish.
She spoke to your guy her self
I thought that this conversation had gone much better than our last one when we clashed on the other forum ,but I still find some of the comments a little off putting to say the least.
Would it not be better to encourage us lesser mortals into training with your groups and spread the word and convert them to better karateka the thought of turning people away does not sit well with me. If i turned up to train with one of the groups on here and i was turned away I would not be converted or improved but would become very bitter.
Ah well back to watching and keeping quiet it doesnt do my BP any good.
With all due respect
Trev.

Re: Wado in Brisbane ?
You are right Trevor, it definitely sounds like a different person. On re-reading Mark’s email it seems the young lady was offered training on Wednesday evenings for an hour but according to Mark's email
“ He (the parent) seemed quite put out that we weren't more amenable to his needs” .
I have to point out that his dojo is a ‘not for profit’ dojo and he would be the best judge of any presenting students to be suitable for wado training at his dojo if he is going to commit his time. Not everyone is suitable and, to the best of my knowledge, nobody is just simply turned away. In fact we have a very open door policy across the wado spectrum and new students train free for a couple of lessons so there must have been other factors at work in this Brisbane exchange so I would not rush to judge.
As for yourself or your students Trev, should you ever wander down this way I will personally guarantee a sincere welcome and enough training to build a good thirst for the post training cut and thrust, just let me know when you’re going to arrive.. Some people actually get lost on the way..???

Re: Wado in Brisbane ?
Thank you for that oneya very much.
I would dearly love to step into your world and knock on your door...
BUT I am 67 ,I have never flown or been on a ship so I have never left this little island we call home.
That is the truth I am afraid,it is regretable as one gets older but that is how life has turned out.
i read all the posts on Wado I can and try to pick up a little lnowledge from you all.
However I do know what you mean by training being the only way to really get to grips with it.
Ok back to lurking for me.
