2013 Sensei Wicks Canadian visit

Sensei Jon Wicks, World Chief Instructor of WIKF, visited Canada again this year during the weekend of Nov 1 to 3. He was assisted by Sensei Ken Corrigan, the Canadian Chief Instructor of WIKF. The training sessions were held in Ontario again at our Brampton dojo.

These training sessions were mainly limited to WIKF Black Belts & Brown Belts, with an open kyu session on Sunday morning.
Besides the Ontario participants, 3 participants came from the province of Nova Scotia.

At the training sessions we reviewed: Basics; Sanbon Kumite Jodan Uke #2; Sanbon Kumite Mae Geri #3; Kata Naihanchi; Ohyo Kumite #5, 6; Kihon #9, 10; Tanto #4, 5, 9; Tachi Dori #1, 4; Kata Bassai.

In the Sunday Black Belt grading, the following ranks were given out:
1st Dan
Helen Thexton
Heather Tucker
Jagdish Singh
William Fontanos
Peeyush Kumar
Aslim Hussain
Jonathan Diaz
3rd Dan
Rick Iosue
Kevin Jones
4th Dan
Peter Davies
6th Dan
Michael Ham

Outside of karate training - How do you stay in top physical shape?

As martial artists, we all know the importance of staying in top physical shape to excel in our training and competitions. But what about when we're not in the dojo or gym? How do you personally stay in peak physical condition outside of your karate training?
