Rob Zwartjes - Tanto-dori

I've not trained with this fella but my Wado Instructor rated him highly.

I think this demo is far better than many I have seen recently...

Rob Zwartjes is from Holland. I have not met him, but he is one of the first karateka from Holland according to my late sensei.

Hi Gary.

Zwartjes sensei came over here in 94, 95 & 96 at the invitation of your chief instructor.
I remember him very well, and his movement and method of teaching was superb.
Its a shame you missed training with him, he really is very good, and most humble.

In my opinion he is one of the most gifted and knowledgeable Wadoka Europe has produced. For many years he was the kumite coach for the Dutch national squad vhen they were very good in the early 80's.
I had the pleasure of interviewing him for an article for a lesser known MA magazine at the time.
He told me how he would regularly visit Japan to train with Otsuka.
He also trained in Kobudo with Inoue sensei.

I had the pleasure of training with him many years ago. He was the first top instructor I ever trained with. I think I was 9 or 10, still have his signature in my licence.

He was good back then but looks even better now.
