WKF competition footage

Post by wadoka »

This is just a bit of fun. No need to watch if you have no interest in WKF shiai.

Aghayev versus Matsuhisa.

At 3 minutes they score a kick. Not sure of it myself.

An energetic match though. Matsuhisa being tall and thin has a look of old school Geoff Thompson in his movements. The techniques are a lot different though.

There's a better angle, closer in with slow motion here:

Enjoyed the deceptive footwork near the end of the match.

Wow, they were pretty fast. Makes me wonder if they were injected with rabbit genes.

It's tempting to say that they may be fast but not as strong and tough as before, but I read the comments on YouTube and you can see that the Japanese fighter loses a tooth as the medic stoops down to pick it up. I assume it is a tooth.

On the first footage I thought Agahyev took a dive but on the closer footage you can see the opponent just getting his arm across the chest of Agahyev that unbalances him. And he gets up without fuss. He has very good timing and gets underneath his taller opponent many times and just misses the incoming jodan punch.

I have watched that fight before and agree its a good one. But in my opinion that kick did not have the potential to do damage and I wouldn't have thought it would score. But then again, I am not a world class judge :)
