Training through injuries

So I broke two fingers on my left hand during our last class sparring. My left is my dominant hand (ie writing hand) and I'm wondering if anyone else here has every done that and how they maintained their training through recuperating. I broke them by trying to redirect a kick with an open hand like in Sanbon front kick defences. Yeah that was stupid...
