It is a difficult topic.

There is the natural preference, and then there is something that feels natural after long practice..
Speaking for myself, I naturally have my left hand side it the front. However, when doing kihon gumite right hand side feels more natural. I guess this is because I have mainly trained it from migi gamae. I have practiced from hidari gamae mainly as an experiment but it felt weird. I guess all is a matter of doing it over and over "until if feels natural".

Still, I prefer hidari gamae

Having already said SNY practices both left and right aspects of the body, the finest thing I know for wado ryu training in both for equal balance would be Suzuki Hanshi's ohyo kumite, with the proviso that it must be recognised and understood to be not the same dynamic as sanbon or kihon kumite. It must be practice as a preparatory fighting system for jiyu kumite so has the same rhythm and requisite mindfulness for seizing and keeping sente as jiyu kumite.
