I like Rohai a lot recently. Generally my favorites are Kushanku, Wanshu, naihanchi, and niseishi. My favorite pinans are yondan and shodan. If you practice only 15 or 16 kata for a very long time you start to have 15 favorites.

I haven't advanced nearly enough to provide a good objective opinion about this topic but I will say that coming from Goju where there was barely any interaction except for free sparring, I love Sanbon and Oyo sequences. To me, it's the defining characteristic that continues to keep me motivated and excited about Wado. But I see how Kata and basic drills all figure in with one another. No one is more important than the next. It's all pieces of an elaborate puzzle.

Only natural Shep, all those paired kata are the Nihon koryu kata that form the core of Otsuka meijin's wado ryu. The Okinawa kata were kata he adopted and adapted to suit his purpose.

Ummm the form I feel most comfortable to perform is Koryo but technically you can't count it as a Kata

If I were given a choice to do a kata I would probably do Seiunchin (I like the goju ryu variation over Kyokushin one)
I dont know too many Wado kata currently but again I feel most comfortable with Pinan Godan
I put all my strength in the movements (Dont tell me its wrong to do so :c)

I hate Kushanku :(
Someone teach me how to memorize katas faster :(

Hi prajit

Cut it up into smaller parts And not Try to learn complete Kata at Once. Other than that, practice!

One thing that works for memorizing a kata is watching it from youtube 10 times in a row. It doesn't take too much time either.
