Good post Kyudo, I wonder if this should be a seperate thread.
I know that a few people on this forum have a design background. It might be interesting to extend this and look at Wado from a design perspective and examine, or define a fitness for purpose – if we can actually agree what the purpose is.

Without karate my life as I have lived it would not exist. I think at first it--through my teacher, shaped my life; gradually my life and karate became more or less the same thing--karate can't shape what it already is.
