Yes, that’s okay, but how would he respond to having to block a wet cat soaked in petrol carrying a Zippo lighter?

Hmm….answer that one! …eh,..eh?

Ha ha! you have a point there - not too sure what I'd do either. Is this from personal experience Tim! :-)

Edit: On second viewing as long as the cat didn't throw a one of those crafty hooks I think he would do ok

Ah but they may have a defence for a soaked in petrol cat hook built into their syllabus.

To qoute the web page of Motobu Ryu Kenpo;

Me-oto-de
The basic principle of Motobu kenpo's kumite is me-oto-de (husband and wife hands), the aim of which is to develop the ability to use both hands simultaneously for offense and defense. Me-oto-de is a fundamental feature of classical karate. Today, it finds expression only in the kamae used in Motobu kenpo and Motobu udundi.

In the me-oto-de kamae, the rear hand is not held at the side of the body in hiki-te, but out in front of the body along with the forward hand so as to protect the vital points. When applied, either hand can be used for attacking or protecting as need be.

This is possibly an over simplifcation of the principle but it covers it. Here is a link showing the literal interpretation; http://www.karatebyjesse.com/wp-content ... /bild8.jpg

I think the principle is within the Kihon and Ohyo Kumite of Wado but finds itself expressed differently;

For example there the covering movement becomes an offensive movement in a natural manner. Someone more experianced can probably point out more examples then that obvious one.

Shito Ryu expresses this idea as hangeki so that might be a principle more closely related to Wado Ryu's expression of it than Shorin Ryu's Me-oto-de.

Hi Shep,

Sanbon kumite and Kihon kumite is wado introduction to meotode but without the huff and puff.

About that power thing. Power that you can see is impressive, power that you can't see is probably wado.
