I am still waiting for my Yohji Yamamoto designed gi to come through, unless Hugo Boss gets there first.
Re: Kihon Kumite
Acer,
There is only one Suzuki Sensei.
His kata is hard to imitate because he looks so strong yet he was truly strong.
And most people when they try to look strong they end up being weak because trying to be strong creates excess tension and tension makes you slow and weak.
We are all works in progress. As long as those two in the video are better than you then you should be able to learn from it instead of critisizing it.
It is next to impossible trying to imitate Suzuki so the rest of us should try to pick something that is easier to bite off no?

That is a great film - thanks for posting it. 'Young' Arakawa sensei has a new DVD available through Champ if anyone would like to see more. I keep hearing very good things about him.
From what I understand of the Wadokai kihon gumite they are spot on - they should have packaged this up for sale! Some observations of particular aspects they show:
No.3 - press the knee to the inside of the opponents leg as part of your counter to create unbalance/ control
No.5 - note how Okumachi sensei pulls the opponents arm tight to his left hip so that it creates unbalance and adds control (avoids using strength)
No.7 - the emphasis is in the timing of the strike rather than the actual strike
No.8 - how close Okumachi sensei moves to his opponent when he strikes to the inside of his thigh
But there is plenty of other interesting parts to watch there too.
regards
Ben

Hmmm...Better in what way do you mean? And dont get me wrong I m not Suzuki of course but,Power?Speed?Balance? Snap? Didn’t see something to impress me that much so learn for it.As long as those two in the video are better than you then you should be able to learn from it instead of critisizing it.

Yes you clearly right about that nice to meet one of them...Acer, wasn't talking about you. There are bigger idiots than you out there
You need to mature if someone doesn’t agree with your hmm..''role models'' doesn’t mean he is stupid you know.
Maybe he has seen something different, something better...
