The Shiramizu Karate Club in Saitama, Japan is now accepting applications from non-Japanese interested in its one-year karate internship position.
Interns learn karate almost everyday while earning money part-time by teaching English to cover their daily expenses.

This internship position is ideally for people interested in coming to Japan to truly experience what karate is really like here, to pass their next rank test and to perhaps train to become a professional instructor.

Shiramizu is a JKF Wadokai branch club with over 450 members spread over many locations, overseen by 6th dan Takamasa Arakawa.
The club is very popular with foreign Wado practitioners as we receive guests almost every month.

We are currently looking for our 11th intern!
The internship dates are March 2012 to March 2013.

I would simply like to kindly ask the instructors on this forum if they could please inform their students of this opportunity to learn Wado karate in Japan.

One year in the Japan internship does not really cost anything when compared to money being made part-time teaching English.
Normally interns make 140,000yen to 210,000yen per month while their minimal expenses are about 100,000yen per month.
Some months have more lessons and some months have less (summer vacations) plus some interns are good at sourcing private lessons.

The application deadline is November 31.
Any early applications received will be reviewed right away and online interviews will be arranged.

The 2012 intern position starts in March, but it takes several months to get the proper visa approved through the standard Japanese Immigration procedure, hence the reason for an early selection time period.

I just wanted to send out an update on the selection process for next year's
internship in that while we've received some interest from potential candidates,
the right person has yet to step forward, therefore we'll extend the application
deadline until January 15, 2012.
