Thanks for the website, I too couldn't register on the old one.... Anyway here's a question......

Why does the Wado Academy practise these(see link below)?? To me these are very important to practise distance and timing..

Hi Jacob, welcome to the forum. I believe these are practiced throughout the three main groups, albeit maybe minor differences here and there, some practice these as Ippon Kumite and some as Sanbon Kumite. The late Fukazawa Sensei shown on the link was WIKF.

Thanks for the reply Shep. I've been with the Wado academy for a bit now (I'm still at a basic level and knowledge) we haven't done any of these unless I'm missing something subtle??

Hi Jacob,

I'm not in Wado Academy, but this is part of the Wadoryu Renmei of Ohtsuka Jiro sensei. I have several DVDs of him and there is also sanbon gumite shown. Don't really know wheter they practice it a lot or at all though. Perhaps it were ideas for the DVD ? I'm not sure so can't really answer that one with any certainty.

Ohtsuka Jiro has shown an array of sanbon kumite when he has taught in the UK the last two of his trips to Europe.

Within Wado Academy, there is no sanbon kumite in the printed syllabus. Some instructors may make use of this approach, but that is down to them.
