Wado in Brisbane ?

Hi
A lady student that used to live in UK has moved to Brisbane and has been training with the dreaded GKR
She now wants to return to wado Ryu and is meeting a Sensei Roberto Chirrizi.
I just wondered if he was known to oneya and if he could reccomend him or suggest an alternative in Brisbane.
The lady had trained for a few years so is not a complete novice
Would be grateful for an opinion.

Hi dkc
San no Ya has a dojo in Brisbane. The instructor there is Mark Tiernan who has been with us for 23 years and graded 4th dan. He is fluent in Japanese and has lived, worked and trained in Japan for a number of years. He also trained privately with Suzuki sensei in London for one year and has a creditable tournament record which can be viewed on his website here.

If you PM me with her details I will personally pass her name on Mark.
Thanks for the inquiry.

Thank you very much oneya
I have passed basic details to the lady and she will hopefully allow me to pass her addy on to you.
She was very good student in our little pond and i think she could develop more in your bigger pond
I hope she decides to at least try to further her knowledge .

Hi Trevor,
I think she should check out both dojo and see if she feels comfortable with what she sees. I have never met Mr Chirrizi but both are what might now be termed 'Suzuki ha wado ryu' so I would expect the syllabus to be similar and it may come down to convenience and location. Mr Chirrizi is north of the river and Mark's dojo is south of the river and this may influence her traveling time.?

Thank you oneya
I believe she is south of the river but he wants to expand in this direction
Because she was teaching for GKR I think he has it in mind to use her in this way
I have not had a reply from her yet but I will tell her your views about trying both.
You cannot be more honest than that
Thanks again.

Am I understanding you right Trev, the lady we are talking about was with GKR and has spoken with Mr Chirrizi who wants to enlist her help to expand his dojo.? Have I got that right.? If so it is sounding all kinds of warning bells to me Trevor.

I am afraid that is what she has infered.
I have only recently had an email from her after a few years of no contact
I offered to ask you for any info on classes in the area as she said she wanted to get back to Wado ryu.
I am just the messenger
Now knowing a little more like you I would be concerned for the situation
It also speaks volumes about the other group
With respect
Trev.

Hi Trev,
If She wants to get back to wado ryu as you say, I do hope she gets in touch.. GKR is a waste of time and money in a student's life and their door knocking tactics are a shameful act of perfidious deceit by a charlatan body of fools. They bring nothing to the martial arts except disgrace and make sure nothing is taken away except the integrity of a once honourable sporting practice.

According to the lady she has been in touch with your guy and she says that there is only a group of approx 4 students
who train only occaisionally when they can get together .
She was seeing this Roberto last night so if she tells me what happened I will let you know.
Trev.
PS I share your opinion of GKR they are very big in the area I operate in and they tell all sorts of horror storys about me on the doorstep

That may be so Trev, we usually run small dojo and it's a long way from Victoria and I hear more from the UK and Europe than Queensland.
