Teisu No Waza

Post by shep »

Hi all

Can anyone explain these to me. Not seen them before. Are they some sort of renraku waza or is there more to it than that?

Hi Shep,

Depending on the particular kanji - taisou - teiso (体操 )can be interpreted as physical exercise. The website showing this example presents as a very basic form of renraku waza, which perhaps would be better served by going straight to Pinan kata.

Thanks oneya

I didnt quite get the point of it.

I thought and was also kind of hoping that there was more to it than what was shown on the website.

.
Looks like they use a variety of very simple basic kata - Omoto - Teisu and kiso that are probably home grown for kids. They all seem to be technique driven rather than principle based kata you would know..

Ah sorry Shep, the link is to the same kata page (from your link) which shows pics of something called omoto kata and a two man kiso kata that look like home grown stuff again.

You can get to them via the link at the bottom of the teisu kata page. or here:

Ah yes. Thanks for that. As you say, home grown stuff. Not sure what they are trying to do with it or what lessons are learned

Well it is obvious what lessons are not being learned Shep.

Linking up techniques without a purpose or underlying (ura) principle is wasting people's time and life. Certainly the five Pinan kata are incremental and form a core of wado movement and principles at their base so why not go straight to these,?
