It's amazing how you can see every little detail in his movements.

At some points though, it looks like he's rocking in between movements. But I think it may just be the release of the kime that makes it appear that way.

Hi Karateman7

I'm not sure what you mean by 'rocking in' but I can guess what you are referring too. I have been experiencing similar myself in the past. However, if we are talking about the same thing I guess it is a bad habit? Off course, not to critisize the man as his mileage is far beyond mine. But, from what I have seen the 'rocking in' is not necessary and can be overcome. If you get the idea that I have misunderstood your post then please correct my post.

Hi AJ,

Yes, I understand. I wanted to refrain from saying anything about it, but I figured it could be used as a learning tool. He's obviously had more training than me, so I didn't want to appear as if I was criticizing him.

I've heard many, if not all, of the higher ranked wadoka have their bad habits. We're human so I suppose it's all part of that.

DVDs and so on are always a snapshot in time. We are all capable of improvement if we accept critique.

His movement in some aspects have undergone a very human process.

Don't be to fixated at what you see. Absorb what is on offer.

Don't look at the pretty menu, order and feast from it. Oops, there I go again.

lIk Bruce Lee said (sorry minasan)
"if you have another (control) to the extreme you become all of the sudden, a mechanical man"

and if there is anything to overcome it is robotlike movement!

AJ

edit: what I meant to connect was karateman7's note on bad habits. I think I am trying to say that each human has (not necessarily bad) habits, which is only human unless you move like a robot. (which is probably more filled with bad habits.. Or am I thinking about those oldschool robots like the robot-dance?)
