I've never been taught to bring the sokuto foot back to the supporting foot, always to drop in mahanmi dachi with no extra travel.

"Takahashi dojo Japan" seems to be very strong family concern in New York and Eastern Canada area with a long history of Shotokan, Aikido Judo etc. I don't see this fellow cited as actually being named Takahashi but that may not necessarily be the case. Certainly the kokutsu dachi after the Bassai sokuto and the straight arm harai uke that Tim pointed out has a Shoto flavour but that doesn't mean much, there are many wado outfits with very little original wado flavour.
