Ah a wild goose chase - I am thinking of kote gaeshi.

After looking at a clearer picture of it, I guess it could still be called "kamate" (鎌手), but it's not really a lock or a restraint.
Of course if done quickly enough, it could be a limb destruction.

In both cases the beginning is different but I believe the kuzushis' main points are the same as in the one that shep probably means.
I could speculate that the reason for the different ways of finishing what is many times called Kumite gata 2, is that both are natural endings and also related in such a way that if you feel one isn't working you can still try the other one or take it further.

Here it would be very interesting to hear from TSYR!

Perhaps I should explain a little further what it is I am interested in knowing..

If I am not terribly mistaken the kumite gata 2 on the Ohtsuka video could be regarded as henka for a kuzushi no kata from Shindo Yoshinryu. (?)

So since in the "goose neck"-version of that same kumite gata a lot is the same and a part is different, how would this relate to the original kuzushi no kata, when talking about omote, ura and henka? Or is the defining part of that kuzushi no kata something that the "goose neck"-version lacks and perhaps the goose neck unbalancing is another kuzushi no kata?
