Server glitch

Post by wadoka »

I had to fix an error with the server today so apologies for going offline.

Not sure what happened but I have tightened up on some file permissions. Not found out how it occurred yet so hopefully it wont happen tonight.

Hi Wadoka,

Just a suggestion, but with most forums I visit, when clicking on links, it opens them in a new window. This is quite nice as you dont lose where you were on this forum after navigating away.
Might be worth looking into when you have the bonnet up next.

Hello,
I agree with Andy and have thought about writing a PM to wadoka about this, even though it's a small thing.

Are you saying that when you bring the main site up, when you click to go into a thread then that opens a new window, and when you click again then another window opens?

I don't think I can mess with that level of code as future upgrade will just overwrite any changes I make, unless there is a setting in the Administrator control panel. I can have a look.

Just re-read, do you mean external links to open in new window?

I can have another look.

In the meantime you can always manually right-click a link and specify to open in new window.

Yes external links are what at least I meant. On many forums all the links that are written down in messages open up in a new window.

Another thing... On one forum the date and time are shown on the front page, which is a good thing at times when we have just switched to summer time or winter time. Not so important to me but just an idea, if it's a simple thing to manage.
