I just came across the requirements for 5th dan exam at KBN (Karate Federation of The Netherlands). One such requirement is demonstrating 5 tachi dori. Which seems a bit silly to me, at this day and age. Furthermore, it is specifically stated that tachi dori of the curriculum of JKF-Wadokai are accepted. Now I'm puzzled. Because being a member of JKF-Wadokai, I'm not aware of tachi dori in any sort of official curriculum. And I sure never saw it demonstrated at a dan exam. Could anyone enlighten me? Or should the KBN get enlightened?
BTW,
Another requirement is 'the ability to apply zenkutsu dachi'. Djeez...

Re: Tachi Dori
Is that 5th dan for any style? So Shito Ryu, shotokan and goju Ryu have to do tachi dori as well?

Re: Tachi Dori
You'd think they might start with tanto dori first.

Tanto dori and idori are part of the requirements too. However, I'm especially puzzled by the tachi dori and the reference to JKF-Wadokai.wadoka wrote:You'd think they might start with tanto dori first.

Is idori still part of the curriculum?Gusei21 wrote:There is none in JKF Wadokai.
None for tachi tori and none for tanto tori.

The Technical committee under Hakoishi Sensei decided that it should be.
So he made a video.
It never went anywhere after that.
So we have a video.....woohoo....now what?
