Re: Non-white Gis

By the way, the way I understand it, not having lots of patches, different colors, stripes, etc. on dogis has to do with humbleness.

Re: Non-white Gis

I was merely using our dojo ceremony and Hirano's words as examples, not trying to imply hating anything. Hirano used that as an example of his understanding of human nature. Further, the white in our dojo represents pureness and willingness to learn, among other things. These are just things I have...

Re: Non-white Gis

Part of our dojo ceremony includes: Factors for Mental Attitude; 1, Initiative; 2, Responsibility; 3, Pride. Also, the originator of JIKC, my original style of karate in Hawaii, Kiyohisa Hirano had a saying: When people are learning something or have to do something, there are 3 stages: Hate to do; ...

In our school students do not pay to train. Th...

Re: Training

That's an interesting approach Monkey mind; I might steal it. I already find myself going wide around corners though or practicing my balance on the bus by standing, that get's a weird look from the bus driver when I am the only person on the bus beside him/her. Were you professional Muay Thai figh...

Re: Klemola's 36 Kumite Gata's e-book

Not to comment about the content of Klemola's work - as I haven't trained Kumite Gata (officially), but does anyone know where/who he learnt it from? Gary A quote from page "x" of the book: " This book is a reconstruction of Hironori Ohtsuga’s genious method based on the authors rese...

Re: Klemola's 36 Kumite Gata's e-book

I understand that, Gusei. I was trying to answer the question of where it came from. A quote from the very first paragraph in the download: "You cannot understand the most subtle techniques thorough the book alone. You have to find a teacher who can show you." To further understand how Mr....
