Re: kuzushi waza

Inded Reg, as you indicate, although some discussion and analysis is useful, too much can also hinder the physical absorption. It's about putting it into practice. The name says it all, Ohyo Gumite is the application; practicing how to make the theory work. As long as there is application of the in...

Re: Gedan Barai

Hi Inagokun, have been reading first to see where this was going. I had difficulty reading what you were trying to say. I guess you are referring to kaisetsu that you have seen involving maegeri, and linking that to your experience with soto harai uke from sanbon gumite series? If that is the case, ...

Re: syllabus differences

Hi AJ, Yes that sounds like the DVD. I've had a look and I think I have loaned my copy to a friend in France. Best regards, DJ Ah DJ ok. Too bad he is not showing ido kihon himself. But perhaps I'm spoiled.. I have loaned a lot to other people that I never got back. And also because DVDs have their...

Re: syllabus differences

Hi Ben, Ah yes Aiwakai was part of the Wado Academy wasn’t it, I have never found out the reason behind that particular split and I guess this is not the right place to discuss it? I've not seen that video but I think I have a DVD from a couple of years back that may contain something, will have to...

Re: kuzushi waza

i think the outisde was standard. But i have been taught both ways. However. Practised outisde so many times that it is natural for me. I guess if you turn your body (open koshi) continuously after ushirogeri your leg automatically moves to the side ending up on the outside. Well thats what happens ...

Re: kuzushi waza

I was practicing Ohyo Gumite No.8 the other night and after the back kick I was practicing placing my kicking leg both on the inside and outside of my opponent's lead leg. Placing it on the inside gives an ideal opportunity to unbalance their lead leg. It is shown and described this way in Suzuki's...

Re: kuzushi waza

I,ve been thinking about ways to create Kuzushi without using the arms or taking a grip as in judo, best example i can think of personaly is when in Kumite, i find its possible with some people (though i'm yet to master it!) using combinations almost to lead someone physical first and mentaly in th...

kuzushi waza

As kuzushiwaza has caught my attention somewhere during my travel and being one of my favourite stuff, I thought to open this topic. I actually got this idea from wadoka, who mentioned some common errors and the ways students try to fix those errors. (mentioned at wintercourse topic) I think wadoka ...

Re: Small details

Hi Claas, You have taken the time to write down some of your ideas. I can appreciate that. Just got back from the pub so perhaps not the best time to focus and reply, but there were some things that I could not follow. (this says more about me then about you I guess) So every move always end in wher...

Re: Small details

Hi guys, I think a lot of people will be put off posing a question if the answer is going to be ‘ask your instructor’. After all what would be the point having a forum if this was the case? Thanks, DJ AJ, I think we should not read the wrong thing in to Craven's comment, it's a fair point that need...
