Re: Help understanding Kime
Jesse Enkamp began in Yui shin kai as founded by Inoue Sensei. It could be seen as a distant nephew of Wado ryu if we think of Shindo Jinen Ryu as a Half Brother of sorts. However, he is an eclectic in many respects and trains in karate however and whenever; one of those who follow the creed that th...

Re: Scorpion Kick
Have gone back and added where the quote is taken from. So it is not missed; it is from the Anthology of secrets of martial arts in Chinese Oral Tradition by Yoshino Nagai. Of course the reality is that: not all dojo that hangs out a wado shingle have these fundamental principles of movement and tec...

Re: Scorpion Kick
Sorry for the belated reply, I have been pre-occupied with other matters. “He who is inspired by me will live, he who copies me shall die.” - Anthology of secrets of martial arts in Chinese Oral Tradition by Yoshino Nagai. Thank you for the answer Oneya, it makes sense. Have nothing to say to it rea...

Re: Scorpion Kick
Joking aside, Matsuhisa is evidently a capable karate-ka and thus does not use such techniques as a crutch. Looking at the video alone, he saw an opportunity and used the kick. Although it may not be a ‘killing’ method if we attach the context of actual combat, it was used well in the context of the...

Re: Scorpion Kick
Rewarding in the context of the competition point system. Speaking on purely the sporting aspect, if the point system is objective then in theory it should show a bias towards awarding athletic ability as well as superior strategy and technique. If the point system actually doesn't have this bias, t...

Re: Scorpion Kick
As it is a sporting aspect, I do feel that the scoring system should reward athletic ability. If you train hard then you should be rewarded for it. However, if someone can gain an advantage through a gimmick does that not detract from that ideal as well? Saying that though, isn't the essense of stra...

Re: Scorpion Kick
An interesting technique, but not one I'll be trying to add to my arsenal any time soon. Doubt I can afford the surgery to my hips to be able to it. I must say it does not look entirely effective, especially in that situation. Although it is a given that they are not allowed, last I checked the WKF ...

Re: Kihon kumite on the opposite side
Did Ohtsuka Meijin ever teach them from the opposite side or have any of his students ever stated as much?
Re: Sparring
Thank you, I am not at all that experianced my self. I am only an Ikkyu and have only just reached my fourth year of Wado Training. However, I enjoy full contact competition as a test of myself, I also like what little glory I have accumulated but that's a secret, and have worked as a doorman on sev...
