Re: Klemola's 36 Kumite Gata's e-book
Not to comment about the content of Klemola's work - as I haven't trained Kumite Gata (officially), but does anyone know where/who he learnt it from? Gary A quote from page "x" of the book: " This book is a reconstruction of Hironori Ohtsuga’s genious method based on the authors rese...

Re: 2011 Tachi Dori Demo Jon Wicks
In a story related to me by someone that was watching this, Otsuka definitely did these demonstrations for real. This is from the late 1960's or early 1970's, I believe. The person did not relate who was wielding the sword, but at an exhibition in Hawaii, Otsuka had his dogi and hakama cut a few tim...

Re: How much do you learn from your Sensei?
I would like to add some details for people that may not know more information regarding Mr. Hirano just so there are no misconceptions. Mr. Hirano did not call what he taught in Hawaii from at least the 1970's Wado Ryu. I have video from the early 1980's of Mr. Hirano stating this in no uncertain t...
Re: Ura Waza
I would also suggest trying to glean as much as you can from this forum. As has been mentioned, there are some people with lots of knowledge. Finding out who they are is not easy because of nicknames, etc. Once you find them they can be helpful. Kind of like Grasshopper and Master at times, though....
Re: Ura Waza
Hi Mike, I did see his schedule. There are now 2 Wadoryu dojos in Honolulu. Sensei Guy and I were in college together, but I see that Shiomitsu is now associated with the new instructor. When Guy broke away from Hirano, he went to Japan, trained with Ohtsuka, and registered with Wadoryu. I will ask...
Re: Ura Waza
Hello HNL Desktop. This is Mike in Thailand. I noticed that Mr. Shiomitsu will be in Hawaii this August. I am not sure if he will be teaching in your dojos. If not, you could check with Wado Academy of Hawaii. I am pretty sure Mr. Shiomitsu can help you in what you are trying to find out. As you mus...

Re: Wado in Hong Kong?
No problem. I hope it works. Also, I would appreciate any information you can give me if it is a Wado Kai branch.
