Re: Hiromasa Setamatsu
Not to talk badly about another school, but it seems as though the introduction of roundhouse punches may bring unwanted results. http://www.youtube.com/v/aY5xSMvHDgk?fs=1&hl=en_GB&border=1%22%3E%3C/cke:param%3E%3Ccke:param I can somewhat sympathize with Acer because I had this same thought ...

Kata
Is there really such a thing as running kata backwards? Ive been told it's a way to fully gauge whether you know a kata. There is also running kata, starting on the right side. I can understand the importance of this. A practitioner shouldn't favor one side. But backwards seems to escape my grasp of...
Lineage
Came across this website's attempt at outlining Otsuka Hironori's lineage.

Sad not to see any jujutsu lineage there.

Re: shukokai punch training
I have no idea about Shukokai, but if something violates the laws of nature, it's probably not good for you.

James Coleman is in Washington; he's a member of Wado-ryu Bushinkai, Sensei Sakura's organization. He's not on here (I think), but his facebook page is: http://facebook.com/james.s.coleman2. If you don't hVE n account, just pm me and I'll send his email. Hey Tesshu, wasn't able to get a hold of him.

Re: First Wado class!
I'm reading green with envy. I really miss class.
Glad you enjoyed it. That was my reaction coming from a harder (among other things) style before as well. I'm sure you're never going to want to leave wado now.
Enjoy.

Re: Defence against throat choke from front
If there was a tumbleweed emotican, I think everyone would use it. Sorry karateman, I'm a little dense at this hour...not sure what you meant by this. Oneya summed it up nicely. If you were a wadoka and asking that question I'm sure the response would be different. But seeing as you're coming into ...

Re: Defence against throat choke from front
She did do a self defense class years back but no she doesn't practice martial arts. It was more a conversation based on classes I took that she observed. I think the biggest disservice of any club is to promote themselves as teaching viable self defense in one or two sessions. That's total baloney...
