Re: This is why wikipeidia can be a pain in the ass

Hi Gusei21, I have noticed this difficulty you mentioned and as I said, I don't see any point either for writing about the quality of their stuff on wikipedia. On this thread my POV has been completely on the mechanism of wikipedia. Not Shintani nor anything else. So to answer your question, I don't...

Re: This is why wikipeidia can be a pain in the ass

Hi oneya, Yes, and as you can see, I already mentioned the text the official webpage for Wadokai has. I agree that there is very limited resemblance to Wado in what they do, judging by videos. Unfortunately however this should be found in some good source(s) taken up by some or many well-known autho...

Re: This is why wikipeidia can be a pain in the ass

Perhaps the page could be improved by some of the people here with knowledge of good quality sources and also info about the Shintani group? Of course since (I believe) their organisation is called Wadokai-something (?) it deserves to be found from the wikipedia as a separate page from a disambiguat...

Re: Wado Myth: Where and Why do I have to kiai in kata?

It is a very widely used practice to shout when turning in basic training. When I was instructing the basic course I started thinking that maybe in the beginning this is not a good idea but instead it might be a better idea to start using it maybe after a year or so. In the beginning in turning the ...

Re: Balancing it all

I have been working hard to find money for travelling to train. At other times I just work less. Actually I don't train so hard anymore, but working and training is difficult time-management-wise. So I too use the "Kung fu is everywhere"-aproach with all the "wax on..", "pai...

Re: Kakie

Has anyone else has tried it and if so what do you think of it? – Did it help your wado? Hello shep, I have tried one way in which the hand stay on the same horisontal level on a few occasions. It has had it's gains, but then I too feel the immobile stance is a problem. I think some of the gains ca...

Re: kuzushi waza

Hi all, Since this is becoming very general stuff about kuzushi - at least now - I copied from the KK8-thread and continue here.. @gusei21, like your mentioning of the resetbutton. This often occurs when one tries to apply kuzushi with too much enthousiasm. Turning the table looking at the role of u...

Hi shep,

Got it! I also remember the writing about that "improved" naihanchidachi, so no worries.

Re: In search of wado ryu.

Hi, Shep, Could you please point out what you mean in the KK8-thread? (There of course...) Oneya, I totally agree. Of course I don't know what the guys are up to actually, so this is just very general theoreticising. If they claim it's an improvement, they are on thin ice. But if they instead say &q...
