Re: Anyone know of a Kendo club near London Bridge
No problem at all. Good luck to him in his search, Kendo is one of the more exhilerating of the Gedai Budo and one of the least politicised.

Re: Reading list!
On Shotokan Karate from the early days; there was a reissue of Karate Do Kyohan that used the original images by Neptune Publishing. However, it was limited print and I am not sure how easy it would be to get your hands on a copy. I also believe there was a reissue of Funakoshi's first work Karate-J...
Re: Sparring
Speaking from experiance, there is an element of both yes and no to any answer that can be given to that question. In many ways it is one that reaches out and pulls us into the murky waters of tai sabaki. To misuse the term and bludgeon it's meaning entirely; for my examples I shall be treating tai ...

Re: Anyone know of a Kendo club near London Bridge
The closest I can think of to the London Bridge area would be the Nenriki dojo. However, I am recalling that from a trip down there a couple of years ago when I did Kendo. They do advertise on the web so if you advise your friend to look for Nenriki Kendo club he might find their information. Edit: ...
Re: Sparring
I find the basic, using the closest word I can come to, 'principles' change; depending on the style of sparring and inherent limitations the rules you are presented with impose. I agree with the assessment of the practice of shiai as mentioned prior, having watched it I conclude that it lends it sel...

Re: Responsibilities as an instructor and human being
It is saddening news and I hope the minors affected are given the help they are needed. In such matters, you can only make use of your own moral compass to decide on a course of action. If I had suffered the misfortune of being associated with such individuals when such a horrible truth had come to ...

Re: Which is/are your favourite Kata?
I would not call it my favourite but the one I always come back to is Naihanchi. The others I can occasionally fool myself into thinking I have performed them well, but with Naihanchi I never have that and it irritates me endlessly. The ones I like performing from time to time are Kushanku and Seisa...

Re: Can I claim a new body under warranty?
If you have kicked anything as of late then it could be impact related and might be some soft tissue damage, so it should go away soon enough. Worst case scenario is that it's a trapped nerve or you've injured the area around the bone. However, it could also be circulation or blood pressure related....

Re: Ouch! Accidents in the dojo
@Tim49: I would have no doubt that someone has recieved an injury that has left them paralysed. However, a quick search on Google and asking around my local karate circle leads me to reckon it's likely hearsay when it comes to that particular tale. Yet, I am sure done without control that the area s...
