Re: A Letter from Sensei Suzuki...

The point is: What's the point?

I guess everyone who are writing here have read that letter a few times.

So what's the debate?

Everyone cares.

What's the debate?

What's the point?
Not saying there aren't any... Just wondering what the point is?

Re: Killing me softly

Thanks for the answer.I know exactly what you mean...My question was why Ohtsuka sensei didn’t continue to teach the techniques he use against his student and of course the way how to perform them against an opponent that strikes back? Its kind of strange to show them, use them, but no teach them... ...

Re: Which is/are your favourite Kata?

If I teach, I give the commands in the rythm that should be used when performing the kata. AJ What kind of rhythm is that? What do you mean, is this à language thing? Some mo...

Re: dan grade policy

Totally. All this is quite obvious in fact, but for some people individualism is so important ("this thing I like in the club, this thing I don't like in the club...") that they do not have enough respect. Probably most of the people have problems fitting in sometime, but there should be a...

Re: Which is/are your favourite Kata?

Re: Which is/are your favourite Kata?

One thing that works for memorizing a kata is watching it from youtube 10 times in a row. It doesn't take too much time either.

Re: dan grade policy

Very good points, Kuroi. Are you 20 years old? Many people should try to have more respect towards the higher and towards the lower. I guess in these "holding-on-to-belt"-questions it is basically about respect. Maybe many people do not want to lose the respect they gained in a previous en...

Re: Kihon kumite on the opposite side

I would have a story about Ohtsuka sensei and a question about the side thing. I will not post it publicly however, because I cannot be too certain about contexts, correct understanding and so on, so it's better if it's not made public. Anyone truly interested can ask in person if we ever meet. (The...
