Wow, what a fantastic opportunity this is.
If only I was younger, single and had no commitments :)

Re: Belts
Well sweat I can do no problem, its just annoying when it keeps coming undone.
I have only ever seen 1 person tuck the ends of their belt in and that was on a very old video. I dont consider myself in the same league as that person, so thought perhaps that was "his" thing :)

Belts
Hi Guys, Having never had a black belt before, I wondered if someone could give me some advice on how to soften it a bit. It keeps coming undone as I cant get the knot tight enough and the ends stick up like rabbit ears :( I am sure you all have faded black turned back to white belts where all the s...

Re: Shiomitsu Demo Defending Mawashigeri
I must admit, I never noticed that first time around. Interestingly, he does seem to look down, as if looking for the foot?honoluludesktop wrote:Hi Andy, Good point, did you notice that Shiomitsu steps on the foot of his opponent in the process of the throw? Re: Shiomitsu Demo Defending Mawashigeri
I used a similar technique for one of my own ippons in my grading. We have to come up with 6 of our own, 2 punch, 2 front kick, 2 round kick.
What I found when practising this technique is you have to close the opponent down rather quickly as they still have a reverse punch they could throw.

Re: Shodan Training
Well done Andy, shodan is a very significant step. Getting upset at your instructor is something you will get used to now if you don't understand your instructor's job. oneya I am looking forward to learning lots more, I aim to be a very good dan grade. One of his jobs has always been to push my bu...

Re: Shodan Training
Congratulations Andy! Would you mind sharing more about your own preparation for the grading? What was most/least valuable in the end? I'm a 2nd kyu now & hope to be making similar preparations in the not too distant future. Sure, I dont mind sharing at all. I can remember taking my 1st kyu and...
