Principles...Principles...Principles...Kaisetsu not bunkai etc etc... Why then don’t he saw the principles using more practical and real attacks rather than the classic :'' Now the opponent will attack me with jun tsuki (what in the world) and then freeze there (no words)...'' Its not only he,its no...

Re: Hiromasa Setamatsu
I saw the parts with the opponents... Well nobody will attack you with ''jun tsuki'' I just hate those kind of unpractical bunkai, ''karate attacks'' vs ''karate defenses'' as the explanation of what kata moves are for... For me it’s more honest to just say : ''I don’t have a clue what those moves m...

Re: Videos

Re: Videos
If you think Arakawa or Shiomitsu are great you must train with Suzuki...I have a tape made of Toru Arakawa teaching in Colorado. If I ever get around to digitizing it, I will also post it here. Arakawa Sensei was the best karate technician I have ever studied under.

Every week together with kihon kata kumite...Out of curiosity, where are you drawing the line when you say these things are not for regular training?
idori, tanto tori, sword defense?
And out of curiosity does anyone here know how often the WIKF practices these in a typical dojo or at a seminar?
Re: Kata
I don’t want teach anyone anything :-D I just hate that kind of explanation: ''Ok the opponent will attack with stepping straight punch (aka jun tsuki)....ok..the other hand in hikite....ok..... know you wait and I will conuter…ok nice now throw me a gyaku tsuki....'' etc And this is the bunkai /kai...
