I learned about straight, curve and hook punches from Suzuki sensei, it is not in the syllabus but it is all in the kihon Gumite.

Could you please show me in what Kihon Kumite we defend on hook and overhead punches to the face?

Compare it with Tatsuo Suzuki Kihon Kumite make me realize again and again how amazing he was....

the variables in a real life confrontation are almost infinite and as such is impossible to 'drill' to accomodate what might or might not happen.
