Re: Kihon Kumite

There is only one Suzuki Sensei. His kata is hard to imitate because he looks so strong yet he was truly strong. And most people when they try to look strong they end up being weak because trying to be strong creates excess tension and tension makes you slow and weak. Yes you are absolute right. As...

Re: Wado, budo, self-defence.... What's it all about?

I learned about straight, curve and hook punches from Suzuki sensei, it is not in the syllabus but it is all in the kihon Gumite.
Could you please show me in what Kihon Kumite we defend on hook and overhead punches to the face?

Re: Wado, budo, self-defence.... What's it all about?

I really think that you are making comments about your own training Acer I already said what my train is about. Dealing with swing punches has its own logic, know the logic and you have the situation sewn up. Great. In Wado we don’t train in them(the correct mechanics of a hook punche ts not our Kih...

Re: Books for Wado

Stories stories stories... Do you remember that he wrote about how Ohtsuka thought Gigo was full of ****? And long before Giko easily lost the fight with the Goju Ryu practitioner...Some say it was one of the reasons Ohtsuka left.Nice story. BTW, if we are to believe Motobu, Gichin Funakoshi's karat...

Re: Books for Wado

Just like the other idiots out there trying to improve Wado claiming that Wado needs to evolve....

Re: Wado, budo, self-defence.... What's it all about?

The self defence reason also fizzles away. Anyone with experience in random violence will tell you that it frequently chaotic, unpredictable, sometimes sudden, sometimes with a fear and intimidation preamble, ill-disciplined, ugly and probably most importantly, psychologically crushing and paralysi...

Re: Wado, budo, self-defence.... What's it all about?

once heard that in another karate club, they planned their training sessions by opening the grading syllabus booklet each day and choosing a random grade/list of techniques to practice. And that's all they did (of course this is only what I heard and not witnessed by myself). I get the feeling that...

Re: Wado, budo, self-defence.... What's it all about?

Why dont you join your local Boxing gym, if it matters that much to you? I believe hook punches are in their syllabus. Why not to add them in our syllabus?Much easier... Could you please answer my questions? Of course, lets see : You seem to think that a lot of stuff isn't there in Wado and at the s...

Re: Wado, budo, self-defence.... What's it all about?

the variables in a real life confrontation are almost infinite and as such is impossible to 'drill' to accomodate what might or might not happen. Right...So lets training ONLY on straight punches as part of our syllabus then! That would be the smarter thing to do and not training in few other types ...
