Re: Dealing With Issues

Ray The replies and answers on here came come thick and fast at times, and also on different levels. If you look at the thread on Ohtsuka sensei teaching at the Goju Kai there is the explanation of Ohtsuka teaching jodan uke. If you look at this sequence http://www.wado.co.uk/Wado.co.uk/Series_3.ht...

Re: Recommended Reading

I defer to your expertise as far as implementation but I think there is a lot of material out there they could warrant discussion so the 'archive' idea sounds good...

Recommended Reading

I have noticed a few different books pop up in various discussions and I was curious if any consideration has been made about making a section for recommended readings about karate, budo, falling off the wagon, or any other material related to a karateka's journey. Any recommendations? As Wado mater...

Re: Question for Oneya (and others)

Hi Guys, You can read about Kiyohisa Hirano's history here: http://www.jikc-hq.org/history.html In 1960 it does state he won the kumite. The history makes no mention though of Wado or any reference to how he originally came to Hawaii with the Wado delegation as stated above.. I wonder why the disso...

Re: Question for Oneya (and others)

Hi Mike I guess I was limiting my comment to Europe. Hirano went to Hawaii. Did he place in one of the championships? Hello, Ben. I think Hirano won kumite in 1960. He may have been team captain in 1961. He went to live in Hawaii in 1962. I think Shiomitsu Sensei would know. Mike Hi Guys, You can r...

Re: Wado in the USA

Des Moines is a fairly miserable place. I am sorry that your first foray into the mysteries of America was through Iowa but at least you had the experience of the State Fair. Not many foreigners can say they have braved that experience and lived to tell the story. I will put it down to your Wado tr...

Re: Wado in the USA

Thanks for that Chris. My first trip ever to America was on business, to Des Moines, Iowa. After the initial shock at the humidity, I can't do heat and humidity, I checked into the hotel and it was straight off to the Iowa State Fair. Now that was a shock. Des Moines is a fairly miserable place. I ...
