Re: Youtube stuff

Nice find Shep. Need to ask though - does anyone else see something odd with the Rohai here or is that how it is done in the Renmei? http://www.youtube.com/user/rastaman0310#p/u/35/gh-RzK0wQGA Gary Hi Gary, If you are referring to the use of shiko-dachi versus naihanchi-dachi then yes, this is how ...

Re: To practice or search

I'm not in quite the same situation but I am moving from Goju Ryu to Wado. Initially I wanted to migrate to Wing Chun and while I found it interesting, I missed the feel of karate. I left the last school as it became abundantly clear that they were more interested in promotion and merchandising tha...

I would also like to extend my condolences to all the people that Suzuki Sensei's life has touched.

His legacy will surely never be forgotten.

Congratulations, Andy. Glad to hear all the hard work paid off.

Shep also said it best, "Now the journey begins". All the best to you.

Re: over coming tenseness!

I would highly recommend learning some basic yoga. are you able to recommend a specific type of yoga that would compliment wado? hi metalfury, i would suggest starting with hatha yoga. it is the foundation from which all yoga styles spring from. if you take a liking to it you can always try somethi...

Re: over coming tenseness!

Hi Dangars, I would highly recommend learning some basic yoga. It doesn't require a gym and can easily be done early mornings or in the evenings (or as a warm up before class). If I remember correctly you had a pretty bad accident so some yogic posturing may also help realign the body a bit. I have ...

Re: Has anyone had the pleasure of training with....

I haven't but does anybody know what DVDs the various footage on YouTube come from? Hi Wadoka, I believe the footage is from his Kumite Technique Seminar videos available on Champ. I think he will be in Austria over the summer. http://www.kamikazeweb.com/index.php?action=article_detailed&id=005...

I've heard a few slip there as well as before the dreaded 43rd move.

On a side note, no kiais listed in the shitei kata bible for Wado, eh?

Does that officially make Wado the redheaded stepchild of WKF karate?

Re: Wado Myth: Where do I have to kiai in kata?

Hi wadoka, In the spirit of Easter and the depths of an akvavit filled Saturday afternoon I figured I would throw my 2 cents (pents) in (although worth considerably less). In regards to kushanku, we always trained first kiai after the migi yonhan nukite chudan and the second after the tobi geri and ...
