Re: Hanshi Iwao Yoshioka
Then the offer is much appreciated. I wish we were more selective at our club sometimes, tend to get a bunch of people that cycle in and out, and really just cause disruption and steal time from those among us who go every lesson and then don't get much attention as the new white belts need it more.

Re: Hanshi Iwao Yoshioka
If I am ever down on the south coast I'll take you up on that offer. I have only seen parts of the book but it's definetely worth it for it's historical value. I have never been down south so it's an unlikely occurence but we can live in hope, or abject terror at how bad my karate probably is. On th...

http://i00.i.aliimg.com/photo/113356548/Cotton_Bags.summ.jpg That looks white enough to me. No intent to be facetious but just to show I am not making a spurious claim. I have also seen in person white unbleached cotton, but you do have me with hemp. No arguing that you need to bleach that to make ...
Re: Training
Fair enough, it was only something I had read in passing and was curious to find if it had any whiff of truth to it.
Although a drift from the original topic; what is everyone's take on Hojo Undo and does anyone feel as thought it should have a bearing on Wado Ryu training?

Re: Non-white Gis
White does represent purity and cleanliness in Japanese society, however it also carries the implication of death. For example; in a traditional Japanese wedding the women wears white to represent the "death" of her former familial ties. In the era of the Samurai, under perfect circumstanc...

Re: Hanshi Iwao Yoshioka
I already have a list of books I wish to get, but I shall add that to the list as it does sound interesting.

Re: Hanshi Iwao Yoshioka
Thankyou for the clarification Ben, makes more sense of the situation to know that. I can't afford such a book at this time, I am saving up for a reprinted version of Ōtsuka Hironori's original Wado Ryu book. Is there a particular book of Clive Layton's with valuable historical information with in i...

Re: Hanshi Iwao Yoshioka
I thought that Mochizuki Minoru founded and taught Yoseikan Karate and Aikido, and that it was his son Mochizuki Hiroo whom created Yoseikan Budo in the 1970s. I only state this as I was under the impression Vernon Bell, whom introduced Karate to Britain, was a practitioner of Yoseikan Karate and ac...

Re: experiences in other MA dojos
Actually dogs are incredibly sophisticated animals when it comes to their social structure. In wild dogs it has been observed that it is aggressiveness, not size, that determines the pack leader and that dogs have the cognitive capacity to judge their ability to win a potential fight. This is also t...

Re: experiences in other MA dojos
Assumed as much but even made up it sounds painful and is the worst one I've read so far still. On shaggy dog stories; it depends on how close you are to the Welsh border. There are enough indecent sheep stories to make one wonder whether their is a grain of truth to even the strangest stories. It c...
