Re: Internal Power
Will create abbreviated transcript tonight. At work now... Pretty interesting. The guy in the gi is a former Japanese judo olympic medalist who should not be getting moved by skinny Kono..... In the lab the researcher was shocked that Kono's hamstrings and glutes were going slack just before the pea...

Re: Internal Power
So one of my friends who trains in this stuff said to me ' but she is doing it all wrong!!. Her butt sticks out!. How can she possibly generate any power thru her spiral connection....' Yes...true...but that is not the point. The point is that this knowledge is being rediscovered thru the works of p...

I use the TRX suspension for that very purpose and am still in the process of experimenting and trying to fin...

Re: This past weekend in Leicester England
Was just chatting with a good friend of mine and I was telling him the issues I face with translating for my Sensei at seminars because he has a tendency of being a comedian and sometimes the jokes don't quite translate well to English...(Takagi Sensei). Then I remembered someone asked a question du...

Basic key stuff like: 1) When people do kette junzuki or kette gyakuzuki, you have to bring your kicking foot directly under your leading fist. In other words you should be kicking the exact same target as the loca...
Re: Wado demo
Gertjian Martens on the left and Patrick Loman on the right both from the Netherlands.
Sensei Martens is one of the senior Wado instructors of the Netherlands and Patrick is not so bad himself.

Re: Internal Power
I got a note from Mike Spain who tracked down the second part of this article I had posted. Turns out the author is Robert John who lives in Japan and trains under Minoru Akuzawa. For those who don't know Akuzawa here is a link from the aikijournal. http://www.aikidojournal.com/article?articleID=699...

Re: Internal Power
I can't remember who wrote this so I unfortunately cannot give him credit. It's not me. But I think it is worth posting because a lot of what the IP based martial arts do is pretty much covered here in an easy to understand language. Tim Shaw made a comment regarding the use (over use?) of metaphors...

And again....and again
Sounds like the Wadokai 8th dan exam. This kyudo guy got his 7th dan 17 years ago... Since then he has tried his 8th dan test 15 years in a row....and goes for it the 17th time....and he fails again. I know this doesn't make any sense for many of you but it's what we do. Of course everyone wants to ...
