Another vote for Hirota here, I have the light and middle weight gi's and they are fantastic.
When new they are a blue white and look amazing.
I also have an adidas competition gi, which is great for competitions, but too light for class.

I wasn't sure what Shintani was, so I looked it up on youtube.

Re: "Wado is boring"
I have to say that I have never ever found a session with our main instructor boring, its just too exhausting for you to ever think about it being boring. However I could possibly analyse that further and say that its not boring as its a mixture of basics, kumite and blast through katas, which is ri...

Re: Clubs, instructors and dojo approach.
I generally don't know what I am going to teach, there will be people that would find it boring to be honest. I don't deliver a generic service to fee paying clients. I have never told someone who has started training that they could no longer train at the club, the boring training usually puts pai...

Re: Non-white Gis
I have to say, a black gi would be more practical. I treated myself to a really good Japanese made Gi after I passed my Shodan. It was a blue / white colour and really nice looking. One of our classes is in a squash court, as its not as busy and doesn't therefore require the main hall at the leisure...

Re: Kumite in Wado
Hi, I think that anyone who studies the principle of good movement starts moving better. We have to realize that basics are basics - they are training tools and not every time tools for direct usage. Of course some techniques are more of the "usage tools" than others. Also a very importan...

Lost my mojo
Hi Guys,
Since getting my black belt, I am struggling with Karate, its as if I have lost interest in it.
Did anyone else suffer with this? How long until it comes back :(
I have been working on my swimming and running, so at least I am not losing my fitness.

Re: Kata
Ooh, that would make it start with a strike, kinda goes against the principles of kata :poneya wrote:Well if you're going to start it might be as well to start with Naihanchi.
