Re: Wado, budo, self-defence.... What's it all about?
Acer, in our club we also practice stuff from outside the syllabus. And nearly every time when doing so we try to apply the principles learned from wado kihon, kata and kumite. The syllabus does not dictate what we can or should practice. The syllabus is something more like which we can use in gradi...

Re: Uniting wado groups
Ah, so maybe you are not so much a chief as an plain ol' Indian after all, Are those restrictions to keep you in - or to keep the undesirables out..? I'm thinking more what Gusei has posted in another topic: Shoji and I are friends but we can't be seen training together for obvious reasons... We ha...

Re: Uniting wado groups
I'm kind of imagining or hoping that everyone from the 3 groups could practice with each other with complete freedom. You'll find that many members of this forum already do exactly that. I, for one, am member of JKF-Wadokai but have always been treated in the most hospitable way when attending WIKF...

Re: Uniting wado groups
Ultimately I don't care as long as we get to practice together with whomever we want without being bound by ridiculous rules based in fear which seems to be the norm in certain circles these days. Now this just might be what made me start this thread. I think I didn't realize it at first. I'm kind ...

Re: Uniting wado groups
Do you mean the creation of another group, or consolidation of existing? I mean that the existing ones would join together. Gusei: Yes, I think I'm seeing this from a different perspective than you. I wasn't even born yet when the first split occurred. ... I was planning to write some more, but I n...

Uniting wado groups
Hi everyone! I've been thinking lately about the different wado organisations and reasons for their existence. Of course I don't know the complete facts, but it's not important. What do you think, will the wado style be practiced only in one main organisation someday in the future? As opposed to the...

Re: Wado in the USA
I assume you are referring to the Starship Enterprise? If so then I hope you read the whole manual...otherwise you will crash the spaceship...lol You are taking 7.1.3 out of context. Go back to the heading of Article 7. ... I'm sorry, I have this annoying habit of speaking (or writing and clicking ...

Re: Wado in the USA
Some people carry membership in all 3 organizations. Doug Jepperson is a member of Wadoryu, Wadokai and the WIKF. So this is not "illegal"? I read from the JKF Wado Kai website from the Overseas Regulations "7.1.3 No concurrent membership in any other style association or involvement...
