Re: Internal Power

Re: Internal Power

Perhaps sensei takagi thought that the Finn would "see"how the power was generated instead of feeling

Re: hakama ? now with the video...

Nice find Ben. Done a few Embu now (Wado and Koryu) and I think that hakama make it stand out a little. The crowd seem to like it, as long as you don't trip over yourself!! Gary Interesting vid indeed! I think the trouser legs are tied - perhaps to prevent tripping? For some reason it was interesti...

Re: Great book

Hi Gordon, You may be right, I was reading otsuka' s book about chinto's movement nr. 12 (shuto jodan defense) On the page 329 he says: "also the actions to the left and to the right must be executed at the same time, lest following movements may suffer. Originally this was propably not the cas...

I saw this video and started to wonder if it is common that especially ladys wear hakama in Japan ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MgqF45yNqh8 Practitioners wearing hakama in this video are mainly females ? Is this only a coincidense? In general, I haven´t seen wado people wearing hakama so much.......

Re: Kumite in Wado

Kyudo, Good point. I think in the case you described the first attack is not a real attack - merely a fast snap-punch ?

Oneya - This is also quite common I think. As an indicative of this kind of attitude, people often smile and talk when they practice.

Re: Kumite in Wado

Hi! Otsuka spoke of Igata. What do you think determines kata becoming Igata in terms of kihon kumite ? ( not sure if this subject has been dealth already somewhere else ??) Anyway, I have found these particularly challenging: 1. Attempt to predict the attack ( many times the uke starts moving before...

Oneya,

"I feel balance is the issue in life"

I think this is very true.
