Re: Song for Kata Ryu Sei
Hi Martin, Putting two and two together, Reg's comments on Kawanakajima and comments made before Suzuki sensei did Ryu Sei kata in London, about Takeda Shingen, I came up with this. It seems that sensei used a very old recording, so it is hard to compare. I might be way off with this song. In that c...

Re: Competition Kata
Sensei Nash,
reacting to your post, I have a question;
So if his kata is "spiced" up with Shito ryu, how would good judges grade/ give points to this.
As this is allowed, how far can you distract from the original kata.
Where is the line drawn?

Re: Teaching Wado Ryu?
It is precisely like Michael earlier stated, for some reason he lost the connection to Wado. This happened to me too when I was on my own for about 10 years. You need a teacher or someone who is able to point out mistakes and correct them. When people don't have this, they will come up with all kind...

Re: Pulling the rear leg(junzuki)
Hi Martin, There is a reason why we don't push off. It has to do with keeping your balance. Normal walking is a certain push off of the behind leg, as if falling. The same is done with running. In Budo you need to keep your balance. That is why you see in old "samurai" movies that they run...

Re: Internal Power
Hi, Maybe what I am about to write seems obvious, but it gave me goose bumps. One of the courses I have to do for my degree is Learning disabilities. During the last couple of weeks we saw a very emotional movie, made in Bollywood, about a kid with dyslectic disabilities. When he finally got treated...

Re: Seeking out a teacher and teachings
Hi Peter, Sorry for my late response. Some of the countries lingo I speak, some I don't. But most of the classes, as they are mostly international, are done in English. As for the last 8 years it has obvious been spoken in English, since it wsa mostly my teacher sensei Bob Nash, or his teacher Takag...

Re: Seeking out a teacher and teachings
Yes, Eddie gets around, and he brings Guiness with him.... It becomes a part of you, of your lifestyle. So the commitment comes only naturally. It sounds stupid but I end up relating everything to Wado / budo. @Mike, Hi nice to see you here on the forum. How much did I see Nash sensei? As much as po...

Re: Seeking out a teacher and teachings
Hi, Sorry that I didn't answer earlier. When I emigrated to Israel I just continued training on my own. I was 2nd dan KBN (Dutch Karate Federation) at the time. I searched my training and advise for techniques whenever I came to Holland with teachers and dojo that I knew. From the time that I emigra...
