Re: Should it be compulsory?
Why would you choose Wado over Kyokushin? AJ Well it all comes down to how the training is I guess I speak out of the little training that I had in both Wado is a much softer and more rounded off than kyokushin I think studying martial arts is good for children as it helps them develop focus,patien...

Re: Should it be compulsory?
I just read that my old school has now made kyokushin compulsory Makes me angry at times Although I think that everyone should be introduced to martial arts and made more aware of what it is I think everyone should also have the right to choose Plus I think Wado would have been a wiser choice for su...

Re: Shodan Stories
I love stories about Dan gradings Oneya sensei Not that kyus aint important Everytime I gave a Dan test I was pushed to my limits in different ways and everytime I had learned a bit more about me I would go back to the particular dojo after my shodan or poom and feel like a white belt all over again...

Re: My first year back!
I guess I know the feeling I had been off for 4 years after about 10 years of training and when I came back I was shocked to see how I was unable to do stuffs that I had earlier done with ease Luckily my basics were intact (which led me through some of the initial belts easily) but then again I woul...

With my shodan test looming in the near future. It would be really interesting to hear from all the black belts here So could I know a bit about yourself? -how and why did you start off with the discipline? (Wado in this case) -What was your shodan test like? -Did your purpose and aim change en rout...

Re: Killing me softly
Wow! O_O
I feel minuscule, depressed, helpless, foolish, frustrated but primarily humbled reading about this technique
Arigatou Sensei Bob
Sounds like something a Samurai (Kenshin Himura anyone?) from some anime or manga would pull off
Inspiration for my journey ahead :)

Re: Which is/are your favourite Kata?
Hi KT, Do you actually mean 'discreet' or perhaps 'discrete' which sounds more likely at the kata stage you appear to be working with.? In terms of kata and your prior history you should understand that wado ryu kata is considered to be Japanese kata and in being so is an entirely different animal ...

Re: Which is/are your favourite Kata?
Hi Prajit, I tried to reply yesterday but just before posting my computer crashed.. I was wondering how you are taught kata. If I teach, I give the commands in the rythm that should be used when performing the kata. AJ Rythms :O Sounds rather interesting We are taught mainly by counts Like this ste...
