Re: Been practicing Rohai of late...
A fine feathered fish !!!! Except that this label also argues a 'finite' position in the same way the 'karate' label does TK. Whereas "much more than either combined has the makings of a banquet for the chef de cuisine " speaks more for the practitioner's 'infinite potential', a concept t...

I train with who I like. Gary BRAVO. That is the only way to train. As far as I can remember, I don't think anyone has ever told me not to train with someone; and I do not remember ever being refused an opportunity to train. And 95% of the time you learn something and make a friend--even if it is j...

Re: Been practicing Rohai of late...
I think there may be a fair amount of semantics involved here; I think I recognize the nuances of Wado--at least some of them; and I think, being pretty old, I don't have a young man's understanding (like the daigaku attitude you mention-which I once very much had). I see and appreciate maturity and...

Re: Been practicing Rohai of late...
I don't know what to say. However morphed and filtered, I think Wado Ryu is still karate in the sense of maintaining the major elements of the Okinawan art. TK, I will see you in August and then I am curious if you will still have the same opinion. We will start by tearing apart Naihanchi in terms ...

Re: Been practicing Rohai of late...
Oneya: That is a very rational and reasonable response. It is especially true that university karate is of a different breed. It is also true that I would tend to look at it as karate, and to see what I am looking for. It is not at all that I do not recognize differences in movement and generation o...

Re:
Hi TK, .. again with the perception and prisms I'm afraid but d'ye not think that: "parts of Rohai feel very much like Naihanchi" precisely because they are both performed using wado movement...?? and for the same reason: wouldn't all wado kata have that 'wado feeling' ?? Had the old fell...
