I found this image the other day of a young(ish) Ohtsuka meijin practicing on the makiwara. I've never seen this pic before

Okinawan Shorin Ryu shows this type of (sans hikete )posture when practicing with the makiwara.

It may well be that 'Shep's picture' dates from Ohtsuka meijin's post Funakoshi times.?

and from the Wado Myth thread of March 16th 2011:
One that I'm unsure about is the keeping the body squared, which is seen a lot in shotokan. Whenever I saw Otskua II or Otsuka III, their bodies are 45 degrees.

Apparently not if this photograph is anything to go by K7, I would say: if there is one certainty about wado it has to be that everything alive is also in a state of change.??
