Re: Politics ???

Hi Jacob I share the surprise that you were turned away. I wondered if it might be some sort of misinterpretation of the WKF rule 21 (or whatever the code is) which has caused a lot of consternation on the competition circuit? If it is purely down to what group you train in then that in my view, is ...

Re: Fund Raising for the Tsunami relief

From the Independent website: Over the past fortnight, remarkable stories of individual bravery have emerged from Japan's tragedy. Here are some of the people who have become heroes, often posthumously. * Miki Ando, 25, was a clerk in the crisis management department of the local government office i...

Re: ohyo gumite

Ah sorry Ben, a typo is responsible for the little confusion that has crept in here and its entirely my fault. I was thinking ohyo gumite but actually typed Kihon gumite by mistake in response to your initial question “Do you mean ohyo gumite in the generic sense or specifically the widely trained ...

ohyo gumite

Thought I had better follow the rules and start a new thread - Wadoka told me off for topic drift a few weeks ago! Picking up from the Kuzushi thread then... Generic is what I mean Ben but in this case I am talking specifically of wado ryu ohyo gumite or if you like Yakusoku gumite. I think that I w...

Re: kuzushi waza

[ Ohyo kumite is the physical testing of the analysis of practitioner's omote kata's intent which ideally takes place in the dojo. What we do here is more like picking over the bones post festum and my concern is that we must make sure that items like 'forum chat' and youtube don't become an altern...

Re: JKF Wadokai Seminar - Manchester

The photo's from London are really good - must have been taken by someone who trains karate! These are more generic in nature http://www.flickr.com/photos/60860936@N08/show/with/5540377390/ I've reached my limit on photo uploads for Flickr this month so this will have to be a monthly installment if ...

Re: JKF Wadokai Seminars

Ohgami sensei will be presenting a seminar in Teesside in May this year. This is organised by the Wadokai Karate Federation. You can see some pictures of their last course with him in the link below, and just weep when you see how flexible Ohgami sensei is in these pictures: http://www.wadokai.org.u...

Re: Fund Raising for the Tsunami relief

I received some emails emails informing me of events people are arranging in their dojo: 19 March - North Yorkshire Karate-do Wadokai are hosting a seminar with Sakagami Sensei. A donation from the proceeds will be made. 3 April - Manchester - we are doing 1000 punch and kicks (if my knee holds out!...
