Re: To practice or search
Hi AJ, The listing of many different high level instructors seems to be a fairly common practice in America. I don't like it. I've visited some website where the instructor listed a teacher he's trained with once and made it seem as if it were a lifelong teaching lesson. I will eventually visit the ...

Instead of badly paraphrasing and possibly misinterpreting, here is a link to his profile:

Perhaps he is on this forum?

Re: To practice or search
I think I found a wado school near the area.
Has anyone ever trained with Mr. Michael Cimino-Hurt?
He seems to be part of the WIKF and claims to have trained with Mr. Suzuki closely.

Re: Sokuto
Ah, I didn't even think of it that way.
I still leave impressed by that story, though :) But in a different light.

Re: Sokuto
I think they've been around long enough to know what works when they teach. They've also lived during a different time period where there may have not been similar situations that we may experience. I believe I read in Mr. Suzuki's book that he worked at a casino type place as a bouncer and at one p...

To practice or search
I'm leaving for a new town and I'm guessing it won't have a Wado school. Is there anything that I could practice that won't at least hinder my advancement in Wado (I hope to get back in it)? I'm guessing a sword art, aikido, or some other types. I know many of the top sensei have ranks in other arts...
Re: Kata
Thanks for all of the responses. Just when you think you've got something, there always seems to be a gigantic mountain masking itself under the water.
I've got much to learn.

Re: Kata
Thanks for the post AJ. I hadn't realized you responded. It must have gotten lost in the mad rush of new threads. It's interesting to think about this because there are so many styles with so many variations of kata that I found it hard to believe that, with the utilization of kaisetsu and overall d...

Re: Kette Junzuki
I'm glad you brought this up. A senior student told me that I was doing this. He said getting the foot down for the strike is just as important. I think I developed this habit because my teacher went over keeping your balance during a kick (turning foot, being relaxed, and extending with the hip). S...
